In 1982, Alex C. Mair and engineers Tom Ankeny and Joe Joseph brainstormed together and gave birth to the concept of a small-car known as the Saturn. A division of the General Motors automobile manufacturer, Saturn debuted in Tennessee in 1990 partly to bring competition to Japanese small import cars that have become so popular in the United States. Today Saturn features a series of vehicles that combine stylish design, innovative features, safety, and performance.
